You’ll need to view the image because the button misplacement shows on the right hand side in the select menu.

I just checked in 6, 7, and 8 and it looks like IE 8, believe it or not, corrects the issue. However, when one clicks the “Compatibility View” button (aka, the “break this site” button) IE8 renders the same problem.

Since there is no official support for IE6 and IE7 this can be closed. “Compatibility View” in IE8 falls back to the rendering engine of IE7 so this behaviour is expected.
This issue is closed.
Apparently IE 7 thought it would be fun to hide the Create Entry and Save Entry buttons. See attached image.
