The error is probably due to a line that gets added to .htaccess:
php_value include_path "extensions/smtp_email_library/lib/pear:."
I get the same error on my host (Webfaction.)

I’m having the same problem. This extension requires me to re-install Symphony.

Same here, I’m desperate for this extension to work because of the frontend membership extension that needs it :(

When I activate this extension I get a HTTP Error 500 Internal server error.
Nothing in the logs unfortunately.
