What it is

This is Symphony's first official Hackathon. The aim of this event is to get as many contributors as we can sitting in one session to kick Symphony 2.3's pretty bottom into beta. We'll be running through all the issues on GitHub and resolving them during Hackathon 2.3.

Hackathon 2.3 will be held on Saturday 7:00 pm, 10 March 2012 and finish Sunday 10:00 am, 11 March 2012 GMT +10 (Australian Eastern Standard Time). Check the timezone reference chart below to get a better idea on the dates closer to your region.

We'll be using IRC as our chatroom of choice. It'll be a virtual venue where Symphony users can get instructions on how they can help out. For those who have an IRC client, connect to irc.freenode.net on #symphony. For those that don't, you can use Freenode's webchat client and connect to channel symphony.

Note that the event is not exclusive to experienced Symphony developers. We also need plenty of Symphony users to help test out the latest code as we make progress. If you love Symphony and have a bit of spare time, please jump on IRC and help us kick some Hackathon ass!

What's on the Agenda

The primary goal for Hackathon 2.3 is to get Symphony 2.3 beta done and released. Brendan will be taking the lead in core development, while Allen will be dishing out tasks to contributors.

The Hackathon is not an exclusive elitist club, everybody is invited. The only rule is that we ask participants to keep the chatter on the main Symphony channel strictly on topic as to not drown out important messages. We do however encourage Symphony users get their social on and chat on splinter rooms.
